Who we are

Lakeside Painting Ltd (“Lakeside Painting”, “we”, “us”) is a painting and decorating business based in Wānaka, New Zealand. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. It covers this website (https://www.painterswanaka.co.nz/), our day-to-day business operations, and the software we use to run our business, including our social media publishing tools.

Information we collect

We collect personal information you choose to give us, such as:

• Contact details (name, email address, phone number) and project information you submit through our website enquiry and quote forms, or provide by phone, email or text.
• Property details and photographs needed to prepare quotes and carry out work, including photos of work in progress and completed work.
• Billing information needed to invoice for our services (we do not collect or store credit card numbers).
• Reviews and testimonials you provide, which we may display on our website and social media with your consent.

How we use it

• Responding to enquiries and preparing quotes.
• Scheduling, carrying out and following up on painting work.
• Invoicing, accounting and meeting our tax and record-keeping obligations.
• Showcasing completed projects on our website and social media pages. We only identify a customer by name, or show identifiable details of a property, with the customer’s permission.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Social media and Meta platforms

We maintain business pages on Facebook and Instagram. We use our own business software to publish posts (photos and text about completed jobs) to those pages through Meta’s APIs. This software publishes content on our behalf only — it does not collect, store or process personal information belonging to Facebook or Instagram users. Any interaction you have with our pages on those platforms (likes, comments, messages) is also governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy.

Third-party services and cookies

Our website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, and form submissions are delivered to us by email. Like most websites, we may use cookies and basic analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it. We don’t use this data to personally identify visitors.

Storage and security

Personal information is stored securely in the business systems we use for email, quoting, invoicing and record-keeping, with access limited to the people who run Lakeside Painting. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, tax records must be kept for seven years).

Your rights: access, correction and deletion

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (where we’re not legally required to keep it). If you’re not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
