Cedar Exterior Restoration and Stain Refresh in Wānaka
This project involved restoring and protecting the cedar cladding on a modern Wānaka home.
Over time the timber had weathered unevenly, with sections greying and fading due to strong UV exposure and moisture around the entry area. The goal was to restore a consistent appearance while preserving the natural character of the cedar.
We carried out a full exterior clean and preparation to remove built up contaminants and open the timber pores before applying a penetrating exterior stain. This allowed the new coating to soak into the timber rather than forming a surface film, helping the cedar breathe while providing long term protection.
The refreshed finish restored depth and richness to the timber and protects the cladding against the harsh Central Otago climate.
Regular cedar maintenance staining is important in Wānaka due to high UV levels. Addressing it early prevents drying, splitting and costly timber replacement while keeping the property looking sharp.
